After the unavoidable long-haul flight to Australia via Singapore the last thing you will want to do is take an internal flight. So why not discover a part of this beautiful continent by train and visit the three very different but interesting cities of Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Enjoy the raw scenic beauty of this country from the comfort of the train and en route sample Australia's many pleasures - its food, wine, city culture and outdoor lifestyle.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Depart the UK

Depart UK from your chosen airport to Singapore.

Day 2 - Arrive Singapore

On arrival in Singapore you will be met and transferred to your city centre hotel.

Day 3 - Singapore Sightseeing

This morning join a half day sightseeing tour of the city with pick up from your hotel. The itinerary starts with a drive through the colonial heart of Singapore taking in views of the Padang, the Cricket Club, Parliament House, Supreme Court and City Hall. Enjoy a stop at Merlion Park for great views of Marina Bay and a chance to take some pictures of the iconic Merlion, Singapore's mythological creature that is part-lion and part-fish. Continue to Thian Hock Keng Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in Singapore before heading to bustling Chinatown where you can soak up the atmosphere with a visit to a local handcraft center. Proceed to the National Orchid Garde, before closing things out with a stop at the lively Little India. Here you will enjoy a brief cooking and tea blending demonstration as well as getting the chance to taste some teas.

Day 4 - Singapore

Free Day to explore the area.

Day 5 - Flight to Melbourne

Early morning transfer back to the airport for your daytime flight to Melbourne. On arrival, a private transfer has been arranged taking you to your Melbourne hotel where you will be staying for the next 4 nights. Also included in your city stay is a 3-Day Melbourne City Card which will entitle you to travel on the Hop-on Hop-off bus for 72 hours, Eureka Skydeck, Melbourne Star, Melbourne Cricket Ground Tour, Melbourne River Cruise and more.

Day 6 & 7 - Explore Melbourne

You can use the smart-card to explore during your free days. A great way to explore the city is via its City Circle Tram which covers all the essential sightseeing stops and provides a great introduction to this wonderful city.

Day 8 - Yarra Valley Wineries and Puffing Billy

You will be picked up from your hotel for this full day tour. Immerse yourself in the serene surroundings of the ancient rainforest at Grants Reserve in the Dandenongs. Breathe in the crisp mountain air as you enjoy a devonshire morning tea. Experience the thrill of feeding vibrant native birds by hand – bright crimson rosellas, noble sulphur-crested cockatoos and rosy pink-chested galahs all fill this forest with their lilting birdsong.

Continue to Belgrave and climb aboard the century-old Puffing Billy. This restored steam train chugs along its original mountain track to Menzies Creek on a picturesque, 30-minute route through the mountain ash and towering eucalyptus of Sherbrooke Forest. Dangle your legs out of the open windows as you ride over the Monbulk Creek Trestle Bridge and spot Port Phillip Bay in the distance.

In the afternoon, join a series of guided wine tastings in the renowned Yarra Valley. Sip earthy Pinot Noir at Rochford, and visit another two leading wineries for wine tasting, appreciation and education. Of the many wineries in the area, you may visit estates such as Dominique Portet. Experience cellar-door tastings of their award-winning selections of Australian wine.

Day 9 - The Overland

Make your way to Southern Cross railway station for the "Overland" train from Melbourne to Adelaide. On arrival at Adelaide, a city centre hotel will be your home for the next 4 nights.

Day 10 - Adelaide City Tour

Hop aboard a comfortable coach, and set out to explore this coastal capital, getting a lay of the land and picking up tips from your guide on where to come back to later. As you cruise up wide boulevards and down beachfront avenues, your guide shares facts about the city's vibrant festival culture, religious and political history and mix of contemporary and European architecture.

Day 11 - Adelaide

A free day to explore Australia's fifth largest city. Wander down the grand tree-lined North Terrace boulevard which boasts Adelaide's most imposing buildings. At the east end of North Terrace is the city's Botanical Gardens, established in 1855 and home to some wonderful botanical treasures. You may wish to visit one of the city's museums or simply wander through its Central Market - one of the oldest indoor markets in the world, established in 1870.

Day 12 - Barossa Valley Wine Tour

Spend a carefree day touring vineyards, sipping fine Barossa Valley varietals and enjoying the scenery of Australia's famed wine country with a visit to 4 world-renowned vineyards. Taste exquisite vintages and savour a special lunch of local meats, produce and cheeses at Peter Lehmann Wines. Includes round trip coach transfers from your hotel.

Day 13 - Flavours of South Australia Welcome Dinner

A day at leisure before you board the Indian Pacific train to Perth this evening. Celebrate the start of your journey with the ‘Flavours of South Australia Welcome Dinner’, held at the Adelaide Parklands Terminal. A showcase of fabulous food and world-class wine, this complimentary pre-boarding event delivers the best bottles from around SA and sublime regional offerings from both land and sea. After settling in, join fellow guests for a late night drink or head to your cabin for your first night onboard.

Day 14 - The Indian Pacific

You’ll awake to the seemingly endless expanse of the Nullarbor Plain. Breakfast is served as you travel along the longest stretch of straight railway track in the world. This evening, your sense of wonder will be ignited as you enjoy the tranquillity of dinner under the brilliant desert stars in the remote and beautiful Rawlinna (seasonal).

Day 15 - Arrive in Perth

Breakfast is served as you glide through the mild skies and cool green vales of the Avon Valley on your way to Perth, arriving after an onboard lunch.

Day 16 - Perth

A day at leisure to explore Perth.

Day 17 - Perth, Kings Park and Fremantle Sightseeing Tour

After your city hotel pick up, drive past the historic Perth Gold Mint and the WACA, home of cricket in WA. Drive past the majestic Swan River and the Bell Tower on the way to the iconic Kings Park for a tree-top walk offering unbeatable City and River views. From the heights enjoy the exhilarating views of the Swan River, Perth CBD & South Perth. View the War Memorial and Eternal Flame at Kings Park, view the seasonal wildflowers, famous wishing well and parkland. After an enjoyable time travel through the historical older suburbs to Fremantle. Head to historical Fremantle to soak up the eclectic unique cultural atmosphere of the charming Port City with a visit to Monument Hill, Round House, Fisherman’s Wharf, Customs House, Railway station, Fremantle Port, the famous cappuccino strip and the weekend markets. Travel back to Perth with your coach captain. The afternoon is at leisure to explore Perth.

Day 18 - Wine Tasting Day Trip and Swan Valley River Cruise

Explore the Swan River Valley's offerings, including three wineries, a brewery, and a chocolate factory, on this full-day tour from Perth. Additionally, visit Providore, and then hop aboard a cruise boat to make your way back to Perth via the Swan River. Travel with a small group of 9 people or fewer, ensuring personalized attention from your guide and an intimate atmosphere. Lunch and wine tastings included.

Day 19 - Homeward Bound

Free morning with an afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK.

Arrival back into your choice of UK airport.
